What chemicals can I safely use to clean my gas stove and oven?
Q: Do I have to put my pilot lights out to wash up b purge? What can I use to clean around the pilot lights and thingers where the gas comes out? Is it safe to use ammonia- or fade-based cleaners?
A: I've reach-me-down everything under the sun over these many decades and haven't had a problem with flaring up except with some aerosols directly at the conflagration. I've never used bleach, it sanitizes, not very good at cleaning. Ammonia is far higher-ranking. Most oven cleaners have some degree of amonia. Once in awhile I'd accidently put out the oven pilot sunrise, but that's quickly relit. Now I don't have a continual pilot in the oven, but still have them on the stove. Those little holes where the flame comes out get overloaded, so have a pin or something handy.
Remember to finish any cleaning with a vinegar water wipe down, takes any chemical leftover off the oven walls.

Not all pilots are as consummate as Sully, who saved many lives by his quick thinking and pilot skills when he landed his plain in the Hudson river.So, why are jet engines not designed with a wire grill to let someone have air to pass through but will deflect birds or any thing else coming within their range. Again, this is not a fresh idea. Propellor driven swamp vehicles which can glide over the Florida Everglades have alike resemble grills attached to prevent injury to passengers, so why not adopt the same apprehension to jet engines? Can anyone give me valid reasons why these two solutions have not been put in place years ago? Or even wrong reasons might do!
That's a fair comment. However,earlier cockpit crew needed a skipper and even extra personnel. Now,that's changed due to computer technology, so the extra space gained could doubtlessly be made into a door/doors and a toilet.Cabin crew are trained to extent with emergencies and evacuation is hardly ever left to the pilots in air crashes, as they are the first to die.
Re. engines. A dell device/blow back or wiper system could be devised to prevent blockage of locomotive grills. The engines could be reversed temporalrily and with adequate elevation could be started again.Once flora and fauna penetrate the engine its almost impossible to get rid of them. The grills could be shaped to deflect the plants, like a cone for instance. I'm sure all these possibilities have been considered already, and as you say, its in reality down to financial costs but, in my opinion, birds will always fly and planes will always crash if nothing is done.
