The superior I have ever used
This iron is by far the most I have ever owned or even used. It heats very fast, produces alot of steam, never spits or spudders, weak to clean, and it's a true joy to use (honest it is). I went through alot of irons (more than one ended up sailing out my front door out of virtuous frustration) before finding this one. It is a little on the heavy side, but it is such a wonderful iron I wouldn't dream of fault-finding about that. You can't go wrong with this one.

One Huckster that is a rip-off
The one sales rep on Amazon selling this $50.00 iron for $169.00 is a total rip-off!!! I'd like to get this iron, (based on reviews) but it seems like the quantity has dried up....so apparently this supplier "Shivser" should be SWINDLER thinks they can take advantage of population and limited supply by making a huge profit!! Wise up and google the iron - you can get it at a much beat price.

Win out over I've owned so far...UPDATED!
6/9/10: I purchased this Sombre & Decker D2030 Auto-Off Digital Advantage Iron from BBB over 3 years ago. At that time, I paid less than $50 for it. This has been, by far, the richest iron I've owned in my 40+ years. I actually like heavy irons, they just seem like they do a heartier job on heavier fabrics. This iron is not too heavy but enough to feel like it's doing it's job. The spray and steam features exertion great. Every so often it tends to drip but I believe that may be because if the water fill is maxed and the top is not completely closed, the back and forth proposal of the iron splashes a little water out of the top. I actually just discovered this 2 weeks ago. Otherwise, with the hopes of not jinxing myself, this iron continues to be an excluding choice.
UPDATE-7/18/10: Obviously I jinxed myself. My iron died yesterday. The digital panel hastily started flickering and fading, while the iron was turning off & on. Thought it may have something to do with the electrical cord but wiggling it did nothing. Within 2 minutes, my once richest iron, departed. Now I have to do the grueling task of researching for a GOOD new one..ugh!

I was fidgety, but this has been a great iron!
I went back and forth for a few weeks (which is so dissimilar to me!) before purchasing this iron. I had read just enough poor reviews that made me hesitant to order. I've had this iron now for 8 months and have inured to it at least three times per week (lately it's been more like 5-6 times per week since I haven't been traveling as much). I have truly no complaints so far. It's such a smooth iron - it really glides over the fabric. I have had zero issues with the top to the water well, and I'm really having a hard time understanding how others said it was flimsy and/or snapped off well. The instructions say not to use tap water (which is probably standard for most / all irons, but I never paid attention), so I bought a jug of water and use that to fill it. The steam is distinguished from this iron - very powerful and effective. I like the digital display and have not had any issues with it, but I'm on watch since a few other said theirs stopped working. If this does fill up working, the iron will pretty much be unusable since you have to set it every time (once you turn the iron on, you need to press the button until the display shows the setting you want - if you want setting 4, you skedaddle the button 4 times). The area where the cord connects to the base of the iron is also very delicate. It prevents any tangling and rotates very easily as you move the iron so it doesn't get in your way. My last iron was a Black and Decker as well and I justified loved it. I hated to replace it, but had issues with the cord after five years of near daily use and had to refund it. So far, I'm wishing I would have upgraded to this unit sooner! :) Give this a try, it's really a great iron.
ps. I'll be solid to update this review if I begin to have any issues with it.

Worked eminent first year but things went south fast
I bought this iron about 2 years ago when my 15 year old Raven and Decker base model iron stopped heating up. I thought since I had great fortuity with the brand before, I would try another one. I was impressed with the cord reel and the amount of steam output and thought it worked excel than my older model. After about a year of using every other weekend, this iron started ruining my outfit. First, let me say that I always use filtered water in the steam container so I get less mineral buildup and I also make sure all the salt water is emptied after each use to prevent rust. This apparently doesn't help either way on this iron as I get white particles in the steam that seduce up my dark shirts and I have had the iron leak rust onto a pair of white shorts as well. The string reel has malfunctioned and now it takes about 5 minutes to successfully get the entire cord wound up. I am looking for a new iron as of today since it ruined another tongue-lashing of white clothing with the rust spewing out of the iron plate.

Never again!
The first beforehand I purchased this, it lasted less than a year. I replaced it with the identical model for it's retractable cord, but this one stopped working after only 3 months. This is an unsightly iron - please don't waste your time and money!

If you lust after to wash your clothes very slowly with tap water, this iron is for you!! When this iron works, it works cardinal. However this is a very infrequent occurence. Most of the time, you will spend about ten minutes clicking the little button difficult to get the iron to understand you want to begin ironing, the iron seems to have such a high opinion of itself that it thinks you are done before you have even started. Most of the continually i prefer wearing slightly wrinkled clothing instead of having to use this iron.

Tremendous Iron
We at the end of the day like this iron. Of the last 2 we have purchased prior, this is by far the best. One of the features we like best is the vertical steam character for when we change to our winter thermal curtains. It's great for getting the wrinkles out after they've been folded/wrinkled all summer.

Gloomy & Decker Iron
We are very pleased with this iron. It's a good weight and puts out a lot of steam. This helps reduce our ironing epoch. It's easy to refill the water resevoir. The sprayer works well.
Unfortunately, because of the larger retractable rope reel base, it no longer fits in the space provided by our NuTone ironing fore.

I cannot notice the iron because, as another customer experienced, I was sent the wrong iron (first impressions). I have to discontinuation for return label and stand in line at a UPS store in Christmas crowds to return. I won't get my refund until they pull down the iron. They didn't say how I will receive the refund......poor business!!!!!!
